LONG RIDE HOME with Caio Castro
Begins Production in Calgary

Brazilian star Caio Castro is filming feature adventure LONG RIDE HOME in Alberta.

Long Ride Home is the feature film adaptation of Filipe Masetti Leite’s memoir of the same name, and is based on the remarkable true story that captured hearts across North and South America from 2012-2014.

When his permanent residency lapses and he is forced to leave Canada, aspiring journalism student Filipe Masetti Leite sets out on an epic quest to ride from Calgary to his family home in Brazil – a two year journey of over 16,000 kms across 12 international borders – entirely on horseback. Against all odds, Filipe battles intense heat, drought, nature’s wrath, and corrupt border guards on his history-making long ride home.

Long Ride Home makes history as the first narrative feature film ever to be shot at the Calgary Stampede, which concluded its 2023 edition in July.

The multi-country international production moved to Brazil in August, where the team filmed scenes at the Barretos Rodeo in front of 40,000 people.

Western heritage clothing brand Wrangler is on board as the official clothing sponsor of the film. Wrangler believes in “solid commitments and perseverance in the face of obstacles and challenges”, which is the perfect embodiment of the themes in Long Ride Home.

Additional cast and partners will be announced in the coming weeks.

“When I received the invitation to play Filipe in Long Ride Home, I knew that I would be giving life to a character who has a story worthy of the big screen. We are alike in our desire to explore the world, in our love for horses and overcoming challenges. Filipe and I are soul brothers! I’m excited and very happy to be part of the cast.”

“This is an epic international film that is being made by a passionate team who all love Filipe and his story that smashed down borders. Long Ride Home is a modern day Odyssey, a return from darkness to light and life. I truly believe that this film will inspire audiences around the world.”
